Cities with the Biggest Growth in Tech Jobs

Tech jobs are one bright spot in the economy. The hiring spree taking place in that sector isn't limited to Silicon Valley. Cities across the country are enjoying a boost in employment thanks to information technology jobs.
"Workers who are strong in tech skills might be solicited for three or four positions at a time," says Jack Cullen, president of Modis, an IT staffing and recruiting firm. The industries that are hiring the most tech workers are retail, insurance, media, pharmaceutical, and financial services, he says.
Technology career website Dice.com tracks the cities with the biggest year-over-year growth in job listings. Read on to see the cities with the most job growth in July, compared to a year ago, and the companies that are hiring.
No. 4 Jacksonville, Fla.
Growth: 58 percent
Companies hiring: Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida, Technisource
Skills needed: Application development, database software experience, network security expertise
Overall job growth in Jacksonville is expected to be about 2 percent over the next year, according to Moody's Economy.com.
